Research Ethics: Principles for Practice

Program available online until: April 10, 2021

This activity is an Accredited Self-Assessment Program (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the Royal College CPD Unit. You may claim a maximum of 1 hour (credits are automatically calculated).

Explore the foundational concepts in research ethics

Historical examples of ethical transgressions created the imperative for modern research ethics principles. Several examples of such transgressions occurred in Canada. These cases are reviewed within this program, as well as recent examples that demonstrate the importance of understanding basic principles of research ethics. This course is based on the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) Research Bioethics Primer.

This program was co-developed by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and mdBriefCase Group, and was planned to achieve scientific integrity, objectivity, and balance.
